3D stereo image reconstruction using Cyber-Physical sensing (CPS) for growth monitoring of the fruit tree – A case study of Syzygium samarangense tree
Prof. Mang Ou-Yang (Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, National Chiao Tung University)
Fruit trees possess a high economic value and play the vital role of the agricultural industry in Taiwan. The economic value of fruit trees can be sustainable over a long term because the life time of fruit trees is ranging from few decades to a hundred years. To improve the efficiency of variety and farming research of fruit trees, the team of National Chiao Tung University led by Professor Mang Ou-Yang has been developed a swarming unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) 3D modeling system. The swarming UAV can fly autonomously and shuttle between fruit trees to collect 3D stereo information of multi-field fruit trees. The system further establishes the growth process of fruit trees based on the 3D modeling technology and heterogeneous sensing images fusion technology.
